The area is home to some 7,500 residents who
have been lured to the area by its natural beauty, good schools,
safe, quiet neighborhoods, low priced houses for sale and
friendly, small-town charm. The real estate market in both
towns is comprised mainly of single-family housing with broad
grassy landscapes in Camino and pine covered properties in
Pollock Pines. Pricing for single-family homes for sale in
Pollock Pines begins under $150,000 and reaches up to $500,000
and more for large secluded real estate properties. Camino
offers single-family homes starting in the low $100,000s and
ranging up to $500,000 and more for large ranch style homes
with acreage real estate.
Pollock Pines and Camino are located on the
incline of Highway 50 as it begins its climb from Placerville
to South Lake Tahoe. The five-mile stretch between the two
cities features a 1,000-foot increase in elevation from 3,000
to 4,000 feet. Pollock Pines and Camino receive some snow during
the winter, providing residents of real
estate owners with four distinct seasons.
Pollock Pines has its own school district that
serves students kindergarten through 8th grade through three
local schools. Camino has one school serving grades K through
8th. High-school students from both communities attend El
Dorado High School in Placerville, part of the El Dorado Union
School District. Two community college districts also serve
the county and offer more than forty business related courses.
